Find the Answer You Need

  • Q:How frequently do my filters need to be changed or cleaned?

A:Generally, filters need to be replaced or cleaned every month while the system is running. In the case of disposable filters, simply replace with filters of the same type and size. If not, follow the manufacturer instructions for cleaning.

  • Q:Where is my filter?

A:The air filter should be in an attached case, in the blower compartment of the furnace, or in a return air grille. If you are unable to find it, reach out to us for assistance!

  • Q:Where can I find filters for my system?

A:Your local hardware outlet likely has several types of air filters, both of the appropriate size and cut-to-fit varieties. If neither of these suit your needs, we may be able to help you.

  • Q:What are the preventative maintenance needs of my home comfort system?

A:It is generally our recommendation that all homes bring in a skilled expert to examine their HVAC systems in the fall before the chill sets in, and in the spring before it gets too warm. We are proud to offer a maintenance plan, called the Comfort Club, which ensures that your system is in perfect working order at a reduced price. This covers things like the cleaning of both outdoor and indoor coils, checking the refrigerant charge, checking supply voltage and operating current, tightening electrical connections, cleaning the motor and blower wheel, checking heat exchangers, inspecting ductwork for insulation and looking for any leaks, cleaning the drain lines and pain, adjusting the burner, and checking the thermostat.

  • Q:Do I need to cover my outdoor unit in the winter?

A:Nope! These systems are built to be outdoors and withstand just about anything Mother Nature has to throw at it. In the case of heat pumps, covering the unit actually harms the system.

  • Q:How much space should I leave between my outdoor unit and any shrubs or flowers?

A:Most manufacturers agree that you need to maintain about 18 inches of space between your HVAC unit and your plant life, as they can limit air circulation around the system and cause overheating.

  • Q:What is the life expectancy for my heating and AC equipment?

A:On average, an AC unit will last around 15 years when properly cared for. Heat pumps have a slightly shorter lifespan, at 10-12 years, due to its year-round operation. If you live in a corrosive environment, such as a coastal area with salty air, this can reduce the lifespan and efficiency of any type of equipment you install.
